Focus on Customers To Succeed In Hospitality

The hospitality industry is known to be difficult to survive in. It is mostly kept afloat by people who are using their free time and income to seek pleasure from something that they enjoy, so they can be very unforgiving if the experience is unsatisfactory. It is an industry that has encompassed several billion dollars and has found its mark in hotels, restaurants, amusement parks, bars and cinemas. However, this is not a one size fits all success. So the question is what makes the industry tick?

First an foremost, you must do some research and gain experience before entering the hospitality industry. The best chance you can have at success is if you focus on the customer. Whatever the service you offer, you need to have a group that see your value added products and services. This means you must attain the highest quality of service and reliability.

Customers are happy to pay for the experience that will add to their overall quality of life. It is up to the restaurant business to offer a value creating strategy.

You need to create the best team. And this is not just the best team, but the best in their fields. Every employee should be the best at what they do. They should embrace their task and perform it to the highest expectation. This kind of perception will be valuable not just to your customers but within the team itself.

Gain a customer on a personal level. Building loyalty amongst customers is a challenge. It requires that you earn loyalty outside the business setting and ensure the process is as authentic as possible.

Don’t make customers wait. If your customers are made to wait for the first round of appetizers or meal, it wouldn’t matter that the chef prepared the most delicious dishes. They are hungry and irritated. This is a negative point and very often a disappointed customer would not return. Make sure your team is ready and there are staff on hand. If a meal is going to take longer to cook, your customers need to be told in advance.

As much as delivering excellent customer service is vital, so is your fineness at dealing with complaints. Something will go amiss at one time or another. And it is important that you deal with the problem immediately. A restaurant consultant will listen intently to your customer without interrupting, and empathize and apologize whenever necessary.

Show your customers you value their opinion. Use customer comment cards that give them the opportunity to say what they want and for you to review it and make changes whenever required. The comments will show both the positive and negative, and it can be encouraging as it will point to areas you are excelling in.

We're worked with DB Hospitality on our second project now; particularly with restaurants I'm super satisfied with what results I'm getting from managing my team to overall operations.
