The ingredients of restaurant success

Any restaurateur struggling to make their restaurant work should be encouraged by the fact many successful restaurants have started out this way. Becoming successful is a challenge. It takes years of hard work, back breaking and establishing a strong reputation. A restaurant can become successful if it incorporates certain ingredients to give patrons an unforgettable experience.

Your goal is to create a restaurant that people talk about. Not just talking but recommending is what makes the success of any restaurant remarkable. This is not as easy as it sounds. Many restaurants fall into the category of being boring and unattractive.

Short & Sweet Menu
Restaurateurs should make their menu a primary focus. Many restaurants seem to offer pages and pages of food. A huge selection in theory seems a great idea. But, in practicality it is not. Most people don’t require a large selection. Many a times, you will notice patrons keep visiting the same restaurant to have their favorite meal. A dozen courses on any menu are sufficient. Moreover, if you offer a large selection it can become a challenge to use the freshest ingredients and create amazing dishes. You will be stuck with having to divide up your ingredients to ensure all dishes have an equal portion.

What about Seating?
What do you know about seating? How many patrons can come through the door? Your layout should not only focus on being elegant, instead it should also be smart and expansive.

Presentation Matters
Presentation is as important as food. Do not have a decade old sign with paint peeling from it. Your business should be presented in an elegant and stylish manner. Passersby or foot traffic generally pick out an eatery by just looking at the sign. The more attractive your sign, the more likely you will get crowds filling up your restaurant.

Energetic Staff
Your staff should be a memorable bunch. No matter how good the location and food is, if you have staff that snaps at your patron for asking for an extra spoon your business is going nowhere. Your crew should be energetic, fun and on their toes creating a pleasing atmosphere for patrons. The dining out experience is just as important as the food.

Location & Marketing
Your location should be accessible, whether by foot or vehicle. If it is on a busy street, there should be ample parking space available. Another great way to increase success is perfect memorabilia. It is an effective marketing method to have your patrons adorned in caps and t-shirts or carrying pens, wearing hats or drinking from a souvenir coffee mug.

Why not try your hand at social media. Social media has become the face of marketing. And marketing your restaurant on various social media platforms can certainly increase your patronage. Create accounts on the likes of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and you will be catering to a whole new level of patrons.

We're worked with DB Hospitality on our second project now; particularly with restaurants I'm super satisfied with what results I'm getting from managing my team to overall operations.
